HSE Officer – 3rd Shift

About the Position
We are looking for an experienced HSE Officer for the night shift to visibly and practically monitor safety during intensive construction activities.
You will be present in the field, supporting supervisors and contractors, and intervening promptly when risks are insufficiently controlled.
Your Responsibilities
- Conducting frequent field inspections, safety walks, and observations during the 3rd shift.
- Ensuring compliance with PTW, LMRA, toolbox talks, TRA/JSA, and site-specific Life Saving Rules.
- Monitoring high-risk activities such as working at heights, lifting, hot work, confined spaces, and electrical activities.
- Coaching supervisors and contractors on safe behavior and ensuring immediate correction of unsafe situations.
- Supporting incident, near miss, and unsafe condition reporting and performing initial analyses.
- Following up on corrective actions and trends and reporting these to HSE and project management.
- Checking housekeeping, barricading, PPE, access routes, and emergency preparedness.
- Ensuring a clear shift handover with relevant HSE observations and outstanding actions.
Your Profile
- Experience as an HSE Officer, Safety Supervisor, or Safety Advisor on petrochemical, chemical, or other high-hazard sites.
- Practical knowledge of contractor safety, permit-to-work, and risk assessment in construction.
- Strong field presence, communication skills, and the ability to make independent decisions.
- Experience with incident investigation and root cause techniques is an advantage.
- Willingness to work structurally in a night shift.
- Good knowledge of English; Dutch is a strong asset.
Education & experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Safety Science, Prevention, or a technical field
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of HSE in industrial construction
Certificates & site requirements
- VCA-VOL required or project equivalent.
- Prevention Advisor Level 2 or an equivalent safety qualification is highly desired.
- ATEX awareness and experience with process safety are clear advantages.
