About the role
FMA Services supports industrial companies in managing their technical installations, maintenance activities and operational processes in a safe, efficient and future-oriented way. For assignments within the Antwerp port and process industry, we are looking for an experienced Operations Manager who can be deployed strategically at major Seveso companies in the chemical, petrochemical, energy and process industry.
As Operations Manager, you act as the link between management, operations, maintenance, engineering and contractors. You take ownership of operational performance, safety objectives, maintenance efficiency and continuous improvement programs. You support clients in achieving higher asset reliability, optimal use of resources and sustainable operational excellence. The role combines strategic insight with a strong presence on site, with safety, asset performance and stakeholder management as the common thread.
Responsibilities
Strategic operations management:
- You’ll develop and implement operational strategies that contribute to production reliability, safety and cost efficiency.
- You’ll act as a strategic sparring partner for plant, maintenance and operations leadership, translate business objectives into concrete improvement programs and KPIs.
- You’ll guide transformation and optimization projects.
Maintenance & asset management
- You’ll evaluate and optimize maintenance organizations, processes and working methods.
- You’ll develop maintenance strategies based on Reliability and Risk Based Maintenance, improve the availability and lifespan of critical assets.
- You’ll oversee maintenance budgets, shutdowns, turnarounds and investment projects.
Safety, compliance & Seveso
- You’ll promote a strong safety and quality culture within complex industrial environments
- You’ll monitor compliance with Seveso, environmental and safety regulations, manage contractor and permit-to-work processes, and support audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident analyses.
- Within Seveso environments, contractor management and maintenance integrity are critical components of the safety management system.
Operational excellence
You’ll lead lean and continuous Improvement initiatives, define and monitor operational KPIs, identify improvement opportunities around productivity, reliability and cost, and implement best practices within maintenance and operations.
Stakeholder management
- You’ll build strong relationships with management, operational teams, contractors and external partners.
- You’ll facilitate collaboration between maintenance, engineering, operations, procurement and HSE, and provide management reports and strategic recommendations.
Profile
Education
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanics, Chemical Technology, Industrial Engineering or equivalent through experience.
Experience
At least 10 years of experience within an industrial environment, with experience in chemicals, petrochemicals, energy, pharmaceuticals or other Seveso environments. A proven track record in operations, maintenance or asset management, with experience in shutdowns, turnarounds and contractor management considered a strong asset.
Competencies
Strong leadership and influencing skills, combined with strategic insight and a hands-on mentality. Excellent communication skills at all organizational levels. Analytical, results-driven and decisive, with a strong focus on safety, quality and Digital marketingbureau met een hart voor KMO’s customer satisfaction. Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, TPM or Reliability Engineering is a plus. Language skills: Dutch, English (French is a plus).
